About me and the blog

I'm not just your ordinary travel blogger, located in Sussex and Normandy I am of dual nationality, which I like to call Anglo-Gallic, spend my time living either side of the channel.  The blog is mainly about Brittany and Normandy, West Sussex, and the neighbouring counties, finding interesting things to do, attending small events designed by and for local communities. They can be quite quirky events like the Pagham Pram Race or the Dieppe Herring Fair. I also like to discover new corners of France which aren’t touristy.

My escapades trace my journeys, the events, house buying adventure, food, and culture. Sussex by the Sea and Normandy Cote Nacre are my two main stamping grounds.

I want my blog to bring you events where the locals go, so you ‘can do what they do’ escaping to another world, fully immersed in French and British culture, ideal for learning the language and what life is like. A calendar of small events will help you find out what’s on, with hyperlinks for details, for local people, local entertainment, local celebrations, markets, tradecraft, and food festivals.

I am a self-confessed leisure expert enjoying my time swanning around between Normandy and West Sussex,  live on a pittance and the fruits of the land, but enjoy running, biking, walking, and eating, the first three allow me to indulge in the latter but all on a budget. I have a grown-up dual nationality family, have never been a high earning whizz kid or transnational executive, but enjoy the countryside, the simple things around me and the natural cycle of life with the seasons and the changes it brings: a flowering spring brimming with life and hope; summer of fruits and produce; autumn ripening of fruits, autumn tints, and mists, and the winter storms with windswept beaches and foaming sputum, hoar frosts, and warming broths. All these cost little so I want to bring to you ways and means of having healthy holidays and things to do which don't cost a fortune

For most of my journeys, I use pedal power, trains, or walk, only use my own car to transport onerous belongings. I expect most of my readers will use their car so in the blogs always quote the distance from the ferry ports in time as if making the journey by petrol motor. When electric transport is cheaply available this blogger (aka 'me') will seek to obtain a green all-electric car with enough stored power to drive from east to west along the coastal routes which connect those communities which straddle the English Channel (La Manche) or 100 kilometers or so inland when something interesting can be said for the blog.  I want to learn about the ways of life that still exist from bygone ages, local people, and their events and celebrations to share. The only criteria are that the places and events I blog are within two hours easy reach of ferries and their ports.
